Employees: Most employees would be surprised to learn that they have very few rights in the workplace against unfair termination. The law provides that an employer can terminate an employee at any time, with or without notice, and with or without cause, unless the termination is prohibited by agreement, policy, or law. Therefore, although your termination might not seem fair, it may not be unlawful. Evaluating if your employer's actions are unlawful requires specific knowledge. Tsamis Law Firm, P.C. has the expertise to make this evaluation for you.

Whether we represent you in your termination, disciplinary matter, or in the negotiation of a pre-hire agreement, we will leave no stone unturned. We are committed to advocating for your best interests and we do this based upon our experience in working on many diverse issues impacting the employment relationship.

Some of the matters we have helped clients with include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Discrimination based on disability, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, gender identity, and race;
  • Review and negotiation of employment contracts;
  • Review and negotiation of terminations (for cause or reduction in force);
  • Wage and payment disputes;
  • Disciplinary issues; and
  • Interpretation of and negotiation of non-competition agreements.

As is true with most legal issues, time is of the essence. Most laws require that you file a complaint within a prescribed period of time or you will forfeit your right to bring an action at a later time. Call us today for a complimentary telephone consultation.

Management: It's a fair assumption that most employees will work hard and provide an employer with loyalty and longevity of service. We have successfully worked with employers of many sizes (from small to multinational companies) to develop various human resources and employee relations policies that serve two purposes: legal compliance and employee satisfaction. As to the latter, workplaces with high employee satisfaction are less vulnerable to union organizing efforts and experience fewer lawsuits brought by disgruntled employees. Workplaces with high employee satisfaction also have less turnover and experience a more productive and profitable workplace.

Below is a list of some services we offer to management:

Representation before EEOC and state agencies;

Department of Labor and other agency investigations;

Employee Handbooks;

Creation of effective employee relations policies;

Investigations;

Labor issues including union avoidance strategies; and

Litigation Defense.
